Ginny Simms
Sophisticated Stylings

The artistry of Ginny Simms is highlighted with this fine collection of songs from radio appearances of the 1940's. Simms beautiful voice and exquisite phrasing first came to the attention of radio audiences on the popular musical quiz show, Kay Kyser's Kollege of Musical Knowledge. Simms was one of several vocalists with the band who appeared weekly on the program. Kyser also had a thriving recording career and Simms' vocals were featured on many of the band's releases.

In addition to radio and records, Ginny Simms' beauty and remarkable voice were put to good use in several Hollywood musicals including Playmates, Broadway Rhythm, and Seven Days Leave. In the Cole Porter film bio Night and Day, Simms performed the title song — a fine arrangement of which is included here.

This excellent collection has many hits ranging from the upbeat San Fernando Valley to the moody Stormy Weather and dramatic Dancing In The Dark. Each is distinctively stylized by Simms' vocal mastery. All selections have been meticulously restored and digitally re-mastered.
